Things to Do in Southwest Las Vegas: Dining and Park Updates

If you live near Durango Drive and the 215, you have watched a new restaurant sign go up seemingly every few months for the past two years. Heights Wellness Retreat opened at UnCommons in late July. Marufuku Ramen and Butcher & Thief are already serving at The Bend, the plaza a few miles west. Station Casinos confirmed in April that a fourth Seventy Six tavern is coming to West Tropicana and Grand Canyon, on the old Den LV site.

Meanwhile, the $43.6 million grant to rebuild Mountain's Edge Regional Park, the one with the soccer complex and pickleball courts and botanical garden everyone has been talking about since the funding was announced in October 2024, still has not broken ground. As of this summer, the county's own updates describe the same project in almost the same words used nearly two years ago. The updates below cover recent openings and the current status of the Mountain's Edge Regional Park expansion.

The Campus That Finished Building While You Weren't Watching

UnCommons has quietly reached a kind of maturity. The development's original office space is fully leased, with tenants like CBRE, DraftKings, Deloitte and EY already moved in, and Matter Real Estate Group announced in May a fifth and final office building to close out the campus, a three-story structure with roughly 39,000 square feet of office space and nearly 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. That building isn't expected to be ready for tenants until early 2028, but its announcement marks the end of new office construction on the site.

The food and lifestyle side moves faster and less predictably. As of late July, the current dining directory at UnCommons includes All'Antico Vinaio, AMARI, Blue Bottle Coffee, Rare Society, Salt & Straw, SunLife Organics, Teaspoon, Todo Bien, Urth Caffé and Wineaux. Heights Wellness Retreat, a massage and skincare membership concept, opened its first Las Vegas location there in late July, creating 31 local jobs. The Sundry food hall, on the other hand, has closed for good, and its space is slated to become Stix Asia, an Asian food hall importing about a dozen concepts from Honolulu, though it had not opened as of late July. A concept called The Wise Ox is also listed as coming sometime in 2026 but not yet live. If you're planning a visit around either one, check current hours before you go, since campus tenant status changes often.

Here's what's actually open right now versus what's still coming:

  • Open today: All'Antico Vinaio, AMARI, Blue Bottle Coffee, Rare Society, Salt & Straw, SunLife Organics, Teaspoon, Todo Bien, Urth Caffé, Wineaux, Heights Wellness Retreat
  • Announced but not yet open: Stix Asia (replacing the closed Sundry food hall), The Wise Ox

A Second Hub Across The Valley

The Bend has added to its dining lineup. Marufuku Ramen, the San Francisco import known for its Hakata Tonkotsu broth, was one of the first restaurants to open there, and Butcher & Thief, chef Cory Harwell's more affordable take on a steakhouse, has since joined it with an open kitchen and roll-up garage doors that give the space a different feel than UnCommons' more polished corporate campus.

Neither of these hubs is the whole story, either. Station Casinos confirmed a fourth Seventy Six location for the neighborhood back in April, set for 9837 W Tropicana Ave at the former Den LV site, with a spring 2026 opening target. Spring has passed, so check that corner in person before assuming it's still sitting empty.

Mountain's Edge Regional Park Expansion

Here's where the pace changes. In October 2024, Clark County announced it had secured $43,618,352 through the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act to develop about 55 additional acres at Mountain's Edge Regional Park, adding a soccer complex, a pickleball complex, a community botanical garden and a realigned walking loop trail.

By January 2025, FOX5 Las Vegas reported that Commissioner Justin Jones expected the project to break ground in late 2026 or early 2027 and described the park as part of what makes these master-planned communities

"a place for families to live, work and play."

A discussion about park conduct has also taken place: parents like Serena Lam described teenagers on bikes swarming the soccer fields and interfering with practices, and Jones acknowledged the county might need a new ordinance clarifying acceptable conduct in the park before construction moves forward.

That conversation hasn't resolved. As recently as this January, News 3 Las Vegas reported that park visitors described dirt bikes and e-bikes tearing across the grass and playground areas and that a lawsuit over a 2024 scooter attack in the park had resurfaced those concerns publicly. When 8 News Now revisited the story in June, it reported the same $43.6 million figure and the same list of planned amenities, soccer complex, pickleball complex, botanical garden, with no groundbreaking date confirmed. Nearly two years after the money arrived, the project remains a plan rather than a construction site.

None of this means the park is unusable in the meantime. What's actually there right now includes a shaded playground, an outdoor fitness area with multiple stations, and a Skill Shot wall where target markings for basketball, baseball, lacrosse and soccer let kids and adults run informal drills. There's also a climbing structure called The Chips. The existing walking loop is still open and still popular with cyclists and dog walkers on weekday afternoons. Just don't expect the pickleball courts or the botanical garden to show up this year.

Project Timelines Around Southwest Las Vegas

Southwest Las Vegas has seen openings at UnCommons and The Bend, and Heights Wellness Retreat opened in late July. The park expansion remains planned, and the June report did not confirm a groundbreaking date.

If you're deciding where to put your energy this year, that difference matters. The dining and wellness map around here will keep changing fast enough that checking back every few months beats assuming today's list is complete. The park, for now, is what it already is: a shaded playground, a fitness area, a Skill Shot wall, and a loop trail, not the pickleball and botanical garden renderings the county has been showing since 2024.

Southwest Las Vegas continues to change, with new restaurants and businesses opening while the Mountain's Edge Regional Park expansion remains planned. Checking current listings and project updates can help you follow changes this fall.
